Apartheid is a way of separating people depending on their race. The title "Glory and Hope" is appropriate for Mandela's speech because in his speech he refers to how they believe that they will have freedom. He speaks about everything they will be able to do.

South Africa experienced a difficult time period. It was a time when Africa followed a segregated political system, that separated the different people living there and gave particular privileges to those of European origin. This system is also known as “Apartheid.”

After this system was diminished, people felt “Glory and Hope.” “ We,… feel fulfilled that humanity has taken us back into its bosom,…” This meaningful quote from Nelson Mandela’s Speech, expresses the pride and happiness in achieving freedom and justice after they had been outlawed.

“Never, never, and never again shall it be that this beautiful land will again experience the oppression of one by another and suffer the indignity of being the skunk of the world.” This quote from Nelson Mandela’s Speech, expresses the hope they have for the country that each individual receives freedom and justice they deserve and never again will one have to suffer discrimination.

An apartheid is a segration of sorts among the non-white population whether it be blacks, asians,or hispanics.Nelson Mandela's speech was in some retrospect a similar speech that Martin Luther King,Jr would have proclaimed if he lived to see the changes in American society regarding the segration and alienation of African Americans. The "Glory" part of the title of his speech was concerning the triumphant win against segration in South Afica. They had won not only the battle, but they had won the war against racism by the electon of their first Afican president. This is the representation of "Glory."The aspect of hope that was being portrayed to the crowd was that South Afica still had a long way to go before the racism was eliminated in South Afica. The hope that is would soon come and that the glory of their triumph would be complete was what Nelson Mandela meant when he taught about hope. Apartheid is when laws allowed the whites to rule, exploit, and terrorize Africans, and people of mixed race.

Nelson Mandela's speech "Glory and Hope" is appropriate for his message becuase when he said, "We thank all our distinguished international guests for having come to take possession with the people of our country of what is, after all, a common victory for justice, for peace, for human dignity.
We trust that you will continue to stand by us as we tackle the challenges of building peace, prosperity, non-sexism, non-racialism and democrace," Nelson Madela is trying to say that he wants peace and glory in our country. He doesn't want racism or sex discrimination. He believes that everyone has juctice, victory, peace, and for human dignity.

Apartheid is a term to describe a system of racial segregation that was practiced in South Africa. The title “Glory and Hope” by Nelson Mandela is appropriate because it captures the real meaning of what Mandela tried to communicate to his audience. Mandela speaks of South Africa in which there is a “glorious life for all,” a nation where humanity and justice prevails. Hope can be felt in the change of seasons and the joy of discovering “the flowers bloom.” The introductory speech given by Nelson Mandela further speaks of the hopes and aspirations of the united nations; the glory that can be accomplished when all humans being are valued and open-minded to achieve their highest potential.

Apartheid is a system of racial segregation peculiar to the Republic of South Africa.
----------------

The title “Glory and Hope” is suitable for Mandela’s message. In his speech he hopes for good things to happen in the future. One example of hope is when he states “Each time one of us touches the soil of this land, we feel a sense of personal renewal”. He also explains all the glory that in happening in the present. An example of glory is “We are moved by a sense of joy and exhilaration when the grass turns green and the flowers bloom.”

Apartheid means separateness. This separation of whites and blacks occurred in South Africa between 1948 and 1990. When the National Party took power in 1948, it led to a widespread of racism and white domination. South African blacks were no longer citizens of their country, but were made citizens of one of the ten tribes. These tribes were in areas that were useless to the white government. Blacks could only vote in these tribal homelands. Education, medical care, and other basic services were all segregated under this government. As time was passing, the Apartheid government’s military became stronger, wanting to fight off any outside help blacks were receiving. In 1993, negotiations among the parties of South Africa helped bring apartheid to an end. In 1994, Nelson Mandela, a black man, became president of South Africa.
I think that “Glory and Hope” is a good title for this speech because throughout this address, Nelson Mandela speaks about the achievements that have been met by the blacks of South Africa. When he says, “We have, at last, achieved our political emancipation,” he means that the freedom they have struggled for, for so long, has now been achieved. They have racial equality and are no longer discriminated against. This is the glory he speaks of. There is hope for unity in Nelson Mandela’s eyes. He states to his people, “We must therefore act together as united people, for national reconciliation, for nation building, and for the birth of a new world.” Through this, he hopes that whites and blacks can rebuild South Africa into a stronger nation.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."- Martin Luther King Jr.
That instruction means to me that all people are the same even if your a different color, shape and size. In Mr.Kings speech this instruction comes up alot because hes fighting to get peace within white and black people. To make schools segregated.Hes fighting for the rights that white people have to be the same for blacks, this is were his all men are created equaly comes in. Thats what the quote helps in his speech and tells the people.

South Africa was in a rough transition from a system of Apartheid with segregation of people based on race and class divisions to a system with renewed hope for equality to all of their citizens. As the President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela planned to ease the transition, giving the Africans a sense of pride and security; this speech is the first example of his effort. Mandela's title for the speech is appropriate, because he states,"Today, all of us do, by our presence here, and by our celebrations in other parts of our country and the world, confer glory and hope to newborn liberty."

The "Apartheid" was a system of racial segregation in South Africa between 1948 and 1990. I think that the title, "Glory and Hope" is perfect for the speech. The title explains how the Apartheid was finally over and racial segregation was no longer allowed in South Africa. "Today, all of us do, by our presence here, and by our celebrations in other parts of our country and the world, confer glory and hope to newborn liberty." In this quote, Nelson Mandela is explaining that since racial segregation is over, glory and hope has entered South Africa.

Glory and Hope is a very good title for Nelson Mandela’s speech. It’s a good title because he said that the Africans went through a tough time and watched Africa fall apart. He says that he is going to try to restore peace in Africa as their first president. He says that they all have to unite as one in order to do this. For example, “We must therefore act together as a united people, for national reconciliation, for nation building, for the birth of a new world.”
The title Glory and Hope is saying the same message as the speech is. It’s saying that if the African people work hard together to restore peace in the world, than there will be glory in the end. Also, it’s saying to keep having hope that there will be justice and peace in Africa.

"Glory and Hope"-By Nelson Mandela

The word apartheid was a system of laws and measures designed to oppress the rights of blacks while maintaining white supremacy within the ranks of goverment as well as society.
The title of this speech is a good title for it because its talks about how people confer glory and hope to the new born liberty. Also south americans must make a south afrians reality that will reinforce the belief in justice and strengthen its confidence in the nobility of the human soul and sustain all our hopes for a glorious life.As time goes on the people are now able to be independent. Glory for the people when they finally reached the part were the slaves and africans can be free. There hope was for freedom and they got it after everything they have been through.Thats why the title fits with the speech.

Apartheid is a rigid policy of segregation of the nonwhite population in the Republic of South Africa. Apartheid was set in place in 1948; however, it was dismantled in a series of debates, resulting in the elections of 1994 with universal suffrage. At his inauguration as first president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela delivered his “Glory and Hope” speech. In this speech, Mandela speaks of the newborn freedom of the people of South Africa, and urges its citizens to build a peaceful and just society, keeping in mind a vision of wonder and expectation in which “dreams…become reality”. Using the anaphora of glory and hope, Mandela suggests the importance of the liberty of the South Africans. He describes the strong anticipation and magnificence of being a free nation, a nation that sustains “all…hopes for a glorious life for all”. He speaks about this revolutionary time in South African history as the “time for the healing of the wounds”. He describes this period as the “moment to bridge the chasms that divide us”, and calls it “the time to build”. It is with these goals in mind that Mandela speaks of a future filled with glory and hope. It is with the goals that Mandela urges South Africa’s citizens to achieve success by acting together in unity. This speech has been rightly dubbed “Glory and Hope”.

Apartheid is any system or practice that separates people according to race, caste, etc. This speech is given the title"Glory and Hope" because of all of its high belief of equalness between all races and creeds. For example, Let there be justice for all, when Nelson Mandela said "Let there be peace for all. Let there be work, bread, water and salt for all. Let each know that for each the body, the mind and the soul have been freed to fulfill themselves.Never, never and never again shall it be that this beautiful land will again experience the oppression of one by another and suffer the indignity of being the skunk of the world.Let freedom reign. The sun shall never set on so glorious a human achievement!" He is talking about how we should all forget about the segragation between different races and make the rest of our lives in this land be a memorable time of change for all people.

His speech was to end Apartheid in Africa. The words he has chosen give a reader a passion for his speech. It makes people look inside of what the situation and makes people want to do something about the problem.
For hope, Nelson Mandela tells that we cannot give up in what we believe in. We must go on and forget about the hurts done in the past. This title is very appropriate for his speech.

Nelson Mandela was a political activist who fought for racial equality in South Africa. He was jailed for opposing apartheid. Apartheid was a political system in South Africa that separated the different peoples living there. On May 11, 1994 he was inaugurated as President of South Africa. For more than forty years, the indigenous people of South Africa were treated cruelly by the government which was comprised mostly of white Europeans. Nelson Mandela refers to apartheid as “…pernicious ideology and practice of racism and racial oppression” in his speech now dubbed “Glory and Hope.” Mandela’s speech is trying to covey hope to the people of South Africa, especially those that have been oppressed for decades under apartheid that the new government could bring glory to South Africa. The title “Glory and Hope” is therefore appropriate. Mandela glorifies the accomplishments of South Africa when he says how South Africa went from being “spurned, outlawed, and isolated by the rest of the world” to being visited by dignitaries in support of the new government and in celebration of its values. “…that we who were outlaws not so long ago, have today been given the rare privilege to be host to the nations of the world on our own soil.” Mandela says “Let each know that for each the body, the mind, and the soul have been freed to fulfill themselves.” He is giving hope to his people that they are now not only free physically, but mentally and spiritually as well. Over many years of horrific oppression the mindset of those being persecuted could become one of inferiority. Mandela reassures the people that they are now truly free. Mandela hopes that the people of South Africa will pursue their “newborn liberty” when he says “We trust that you will continue to stand by us as we tackle the challenges of building peace, prosperity, nonsexism, nonracialism and democracy.” “The sun shall never set on such a glorious a human achievement.”

For many people in South Africa, hearing the word apartheid is a very hurtful thing. The word means in that place, or anywhere’s for that matter, there is a policy or a system of segregation, which is a racial discrimination. It is not fair or right that these people have to live in segregation, or be made fun of or discriminated for their race. One man agreed with this fact. His name is Nelson Mandela.
Mandela gave a speech, which is now called “Glory and Hope,” at his inauguration as President of South Africa. The title of this speech is very fitting. In it he says, “Out of the experience of an extraordinary human disaster that lasted too long must be born a society of which all humanity will be proud.” By him saying this, he is giving the African people hope that one day soon there will be a better life than the one that they have now. His is also saying that when that day comes, they will live in a glorious and rightful society. He also says that the moment to bridge the differences that divide them, as people, have come. He is saying that they must take up the responsibility to forgive those who have done wrongs to them, and hope that in the end there is peace. Finally, in his speech, Mandela says, “We enter into a covenant that we shall build the society in which South Africans, both black and white, will be able to walk tall, with out no fear in their hearts, assured of their inalienable right to human dignity.” In this he means that the people of South Africa will live to together in the peace and glory, of the new times.

Apartheid is policy of racial segregation practiced in the Republic of South Africa, involving political, legal, and economic discrmination againist nonwhites. Some specific examples from the speech that explain the how the title is important are, " We have, at last, achieved our political emancipation. We pledge ourselves to liberate all our people from the continuing bondage of poverty, deprivation, suffering, gender and other discrmination." Another example is, "We have triumphed in the effort to implant hope in the breasts of the millions of pur people. Apartheid was a policy of segregation to the non-white population in South Africa. It involved there political, legal, and economic rights
The title of Nelson Mandela’s speech, “Glory and Hope”, is an appropriate title for the message of Mandela. In this speech, Mandela describes how South Africa was achieving there battle with segregation and how there is hope to bring everlasting peace for the future. When Mandela says, “We have, at last, achieved our political emancipation”, he is taking glory in how they have now reached a turning point in there nation and have reached there goal of ending segregation. Mandela also says, “We dedicate this day to all the heroes and heroines in this country and the rest of the world who sacrificed in many ways and surrendered their lives so that we could be free. Another example is when Mandela says, “Never, never, and never again shall it be that this beautiful land will again experience the oppression of one by another and suffer the indignity of being the skunk of the world.” Here he gives the people hope by telling them that they will no longer be looked down upon by the world but be looked at as the beautiful land that it is. “Glory and Hope” will go down in history for its encouraging thoughts and ambitious message. Mr. Mandela’s speech, “Glory and Hope”, has influenced and changed lives of many people today. Apartheid is a policy that segregates blacks from whites. It allows discrimination and exploit against the black people. This is allowed in the white communities in South Africa. Mr. Mandela is against this policy and persuades the people of South Africa to agree with him.
Mr. Mandela’s message in this speech was that he believed that all Africans were equal and should be free. He brought hope to them through this. As the president of South Africa, he wanted to give Africans pride, and did this through his speech. He emphasized that discrimination against blacks was unnecessary. This title, “Glory and Hope”, is perfect for this speech. In one part of his speech, he states, “Their dreams have become reality. Freedom is their reward.” In these words, he is giving black Africans hope that freedom will come and their dreams of being treated fairly are coming true. This reflects in the title. Also, he says, “We have, at last, achieved our political emancipation.” Mr. Mandela is giving glory to the Africans by saying that the time is right for freedom and that the day has come. The title “Glory and Hope” is really what the message of this speech is all about. By giving hope to the Africans about them being free, they have glory within themselves to live in a multiracial world, where they can hopefully be treated as humans. Mr. Mandela makes sure of it.

In Nelson Mandela’s speech, “Glory and Hope,” he talks about South Africa’s journey to end racism Apartheid. Apartheid is any system or practice that separates people according to race, caste, etc. In his speech he uses examples to show why his title, “Glory and Hope,” is appropriate. When Mandela says, “we succeeded to take our last steps to freedom in condition of relative peace,” an example of glory is being mentioned. Mandela is saying how each time they take a step towards freedom they get closer to having peace among the races. Mandela also states, “we trust that you will continue to stand by us as we tackle the challenges of building peace, prosperity, non sexism, non racialism, and democracy,” he is implying hope. In every challenge they face in the fight for freedom people will be there to support them and South Africans will be able to overcome all obstacles in their way.

Nelson Mandela wrote his speech, “Glory and Hope” about the end of apartheid, which is strict separation of races. Apartheid is the rigid racial division between the governing white minority and the nonwhite majority population in South Africa. This was the National Party’s official governing political policy from 1948 to the early 1990s.
In his speech, “Glory and Hope” Mandela’s message conveys pride and optimism for the country of South Africa. He describes the extremely difficult journey that South Africa went through under apartheid and how the country emerged from the valley of darkness and into the light of glory and hope. He states they went through poverty, deprivation, suffering, racial and gender discrimination. He felt they were spurned, outlawed, and isolated by the countries of the world. Now, after many hard struggles their dreams have become a reality. “All South Africans, black and white, can now walk tall, without any fear in their hearts, assured of their inalienable right to human dignity-- a rainbow nation at peace with itself and the world.”

Apartheid is explained as an official policy of racial segregation formerly practiced in the Republic of South Africa, involving political, legal, and economic discrimination against nonwhites. Nelson Mandela’s “Glory and Hope” speech is an appropriate title because the address gives listeners something to look forward to. That together we can achieve our dreams as he said in part of his speech, “We must therefore act together as a united people, for national reconciliation, for nation building, for the birth of a new world.” “That spiritual and physical oneness we all share with this common homeland explains the depth of the pain we all carried in our hearts as we saw our country tear itself apart in a terrible conflict, and as we saw it spurned, outlawed and isolated by the peoples of the world, precisely because it has become the universal base of the pernicious ideology and practice of racism and racial oppression,” this is saying that everyone has the same interests at heart and we have all been through tough times. His speech gives glory and hope to all his listeners to ease into the birth of a new world.

Apartheid is a policy or system of segregation or discrimination on grounds of race. This speech was names "Glory and Hope" because we can refer it to newborn liberty. If there is a human disaster that lasts to long, there must be a born society in which all of humanity should be proud. Also, you can refer this to its name because you can strengthen your confidence in your human soul and sustain all of your hopes for a glorious life. Apartheid is a system or practice that separates people according to race. This segregation was practiced in the Republic of South Africa.

Examples of how this speech should be called glory are Nelson Mandela said:
“We succeeded to take our last steps to freedom in the conditions of relative peace”.

“We have at last achieved our political emancipation”.

These examples explain glory because they feel happy and triumphant that they have finally succeeded to be free from slavery.

Examples of how this speech should also be called hope are:
“We trust you will continue to stand by us as we tackle the challenges of building peace, prosperity, nonsexism, nonracialism, and democracy”.

"We have triumphed in the effort to implant hope in the breasts of the millions of our people".

These examples explain hope because he is saying they believe and trust in the people to stand by them.

In South Africa there was racial segregation everywhere. The whites and the blacks never mixed. It was worse than in the United States of America. The blacks were the lowest class and they were servants to white. White people were always racially abusing the people of color. They were treated as the lowest of all and were given no opportunity to get out the whole of poverty. This horrific treatment is known as apartheid. Nelson Mandela fought against this in South Africa.
“Glory and Hope” is a great title because it refers directly to the point of the speech. The speech is telling South Africans to have hope for the future. The darkest hour is behind them. “We are moved by a sense of joy and exhilaration when the grass turns green and the flowers bloom.” This quote is saying that just as spring comes, and the country’s beauty is returned so will the country’s equality and peace return. This quote tells everyone that this is a time of change and that they will not be forgotten. There will be equality for every person. Mandela even tells the women that they will now be treated equal also. The country of South Africa will be a place that everyone likes two for equality and justice. This is the of which Mandela refers to in his title.
“We pledge ourselves to liberate all our people from the continuing bondage of poverty, deprivation, suffering, gender and other discrimination.” When all people are treated fairly then glory will come over South Africa. They will have a democracy and people will think of them as heroes. Their lives will be happier and more glorious because they are able to walk around without worrying if they will get hurt by someone of another race. The pride they will feel when this day comes is the glory, which Nelson Mandela refers to. This is why he says “Glory” in his title.

In Nelson Mandela’s “Glory And Hope” speech, Mandela speaks of apartheid and the fight against it. Apartheid is a rigid policy of segregation of the non-white population, in this case, in the Republic of South Africa. As you’ve noticed the choice of the title of this speech is very encouraging. Some examples which support the title are included in his speech. “In honoring those who fought to see this day arrive, we honor the best sons and daughters of all our people. We can count amongst them Africans, Coloreds, Whites, Indians, Muslims, Christians, Hindus, Jews - all of them united by a common vision of a better life for the people of this country.
It was that vision that inspired us in 1923 when we adopted the first ever Bill of Rights in this country.” This quote reflects honor and glory of accomplishments of South Africa and it’s willingness to integrate the country for equal rights of all races. “The people of South Africa have spoken in these elections. They want change! And change is what they will get. Our plan is to create jobs, promote peace and reconciliation, and to guarantee freedom for all South Africans.” In South Africa, racism and slavery have been a major, although sad part of many people’s lives. However they are fed up with it, and the people are wanting a difference in society. Their plans for a better world provide hope for a better life among generations. It also brings along glory in their struggle through their past, in their present and for their future, that South Africans will be free to live as they please without discrimination.

Apartheid was enforced by the National Party of government of South Africa. It legalized racial segregation. The titles “Glory and Hope” is appropriate for this speech because he talks about the hopes he has for South Africa. He speaks about South Africa being free of “poverty, deprivation, suffering, gender and other discrimination.” Nelson Mandela speaks of the hopes he has for South Africa. Apartheid was separating the country, and he believed that the discrimination that was tearing them apart needed to be ended. He talks about how beautiful South Africa is. He says, “I have no hesitation in saying that each one of us is as intimately attached to the soil of this beautiful country as are the famous jacaranda trees of Pretoria and the mimosa trees of the bushveld. Each time one of us touches the soil of this land, we feel a sense of personal renewal.” In order for this country to be beautiful and peaceful, then the people must act that way as well.

The speech that I had just read was "Glory and Hope" by Nelson Mandela. In this speech he is talking about his African American nationality and how he and his people were looked down on and were basically treaded differently then the others in the world. The title that was given to his speech is appropriate for it. It is appropriate because it says in it that he wants his people of his same kind to be treated the same as the people of the white color. That is an example of hope. There also is an example of glory in his speech. The example for glory in this speech is when he says all his thank you to the people that helped him and the people of the nation with getting the same right as everyone else. When he says all of the thank you that’s when he shows glory. He is glorifying the people for all their hard work and effort to the subject.

Apartheid was a method of racial segregation and class in South Africa. Nelson Mandela wanted to stop this when he was elected as the President of South Africa. This was the first time that people voted as a democracy. His speech gave people a sense of optimism for the future. "Out of the experience of an extraordinary human disaster that lasted too long, must be born a society of which all humanity will be proud." Here Mandela is talking about how we wanted to end the horrible disaster of apartheid. His words gave hope to the people of South Africa and encouraged them to be strong. This fits the title of the speech, "Glory and Hope." Mandela was the man who helped these people.

Apartheid is briefly described as a social and political policy of racial segregation and discrimination enforced by white governments in South Africa from 1948 to 1994. It ended with the nomination of Nelson Mandela as South Africa’s first black president. The title “Glory and Hope” is appropriate for Nelson Mandela’s message given in his speech, for many reasons. The title is appropriate because it is after a long time of “an extraordinary human disaster.” Glory and Hope is a good combination for the title because the people have glory because they have gotten through a very hard time and are now victorious, hope is good because they now have hope for a brighter future in their country. One example of why this is an appropriate title is when Nelson Mandela says that everyone confers glory and hope to newborn liberty. This means that by being there, people are bringing glory and hope to Africans and their new liberty. Another example of why this title is appropriate is because it shows hope when Nelson says that they will tackle the challenges of building peace, prosperity, nonsexism, nonracialism, and democracy. A third example of why this is an appropriate title is when Nelson says, “We have triumphed in the effort to implant hope in the breasts of millions of our people.” This shows that they have glory which has implanted hope into many people. When Nelson says that South Africans will be able to walk tall, without any fear in their hearts, assured of their inalienable right to human dignity, it explains how people will now have more hope and less fear. South Africans dreamed of hope and glory during their hardships, but now their dreams have become reality.

Apartheid- A policy or practice of separating or segregating groups.

I think the overall meaning of the title "Glory and Hope" is because in the speech Nelson Mandela is saying that the people of South Africa need to keep their hope for the future and change that things will get better. Also that the South African people need to also need to think about the glory in the situation of what was happening to them and hope for the better.

In the Republic of South Africa, apartheid is practiced. Apartheid is the policy of segregation of the blacks and whites. Nelson Mandela's speech has been called "Glory and Hope". There are many examples from his speech that explains how this title is appropriate for Mandela's message. The first obvious reason for this title is the words are in the speech- "... confer glory and hope to the newborn liberty." I believe Nelson Mandela's message is for blacks to stand up for themselves. That they should believe things will get better and segregation will soon be no more. Nelson Mandela states, "Their dreams have become reality. Freedom is their reward." These two sentences are showing glory. They are rejoicing because they have now earned freedom. "The time of healing of the wounds has come. The moment to bridge the chasms that divide us has come. The time to build is upon us." These words are exemplifying hope. People are hoping that they will soon conquer all the challenges and obstacles ahead. They hope the fight against racism will be over. There are many other examples which show why this title is appropriate. Nelson Mandela's words have inspired many others. They still touches people's lives today.

Apartheid is an official policy of racial segregation formerly practiced in the Republic of South Africa, involving political, legal, and economic discrimination against nonwhites.Nelson Mandela is the president of South East Africa and his title "Glory and Hope" is well suited for this speech because he believes that africans will have hope to be treated fairly and racism will be passed on and have glory because humanity is finally prevailing for them and they are finally taking african's back into it's bosom which for them is a common victory for justice, peace and human dignity. They hope that everyone will stand by them as they take up a challenge of building peace, prosperity, nonseism, nonracialism and democracy. The title "Glory and Hope" suits these statements because it mentions that africans entered into a covenant that they shall stand tall and walk without any fears assured noones judging them of there race. There glory is also dedicated to this day remembering all the heroes and heroines in there country and the rest of the nation who sacrificed themselves and surrendered their lives so that Africans can be free and there dreams have now become reality and there freedom is rewarded. I think "Glory and Hope" is represendted as this title since they are united as people and believe in
what is right and accomplish there goals to be treated fair and never again shall they experience the oppression of one another and suffer the indignity of being the skunk of the world anymore.

Apartheid is a segregated political system. It occurred in South Africa from 1948 to the early 1990s and separated people living. Also, it gave privileges to those of European descent. For various reasons, Glory and Hope is an appropriate title for the speech made by Nelson Mandela. In his speech, Mandela’s message was to give Africa a sense of hope that in the future, apartheid will no longer affect Southern Africa and be a thing of the past. He wants to celebrate the rebirth of a newborn liberty. He states, “Today, all of us do, by our presence here, and by our celebrations in other parts of our country and the world, confer glory and hope to newborn liberty.” Another quote that supports the appropriateness of the title’s speech is, “We, the people of South Africa, feel fulfilled that humanity has taken us back into its bosom, that we, who were outlaws not so long ago, have today been given the rare privilege to be host to the nations of the world on our own soil. We thank all our distinguished international guests for having come to take possession with the people of our country of what is, after all, a common victory for justice, for peace, for human dignity.” These two statements provide a great feeling of hope and glory for several reasons. One reason is it’s stating that after so long of being outlaws in their homeland, they’ve finally been given the privilege to host to the nations of the world on home soil. “This statement reveals how long it’s truly been since Southern Africans truly felt they were at home on their own soil. Nelson Mandela states, “The time for the healing of the wounds has come. The moment to bridge the chasms that divide us has come. The time to build is upon us.” This provides both pride and hope towards the newly established future of South Africa. Nelson Mandela also states, “We have triumphed in the effort to implant hope in the breasts of the millions of our people. We enter into a covenant that we shall build the society in which all South Africans, both black and white, will be able to walk tall, without any fear in their hearts, assured of their inalienable right to human dignity -- a rainbow nation at peace with itself and the world.” This statement supports the word glory in the title because it describes triumphs in the effort to plant hope into the hearts of millions of Africans. He also creates a feeling pride because he says that as we enter into a covenant where we shall build a society where all Southern Africans, both black and white, will be able to walk with pride without any fear in their hearts, assured of their right to human dignity. With this statement, he also gives a sense of peace since Southern Africans will no longer be separated based on ethnicity or race.

The word Apartheid means any system or practice that separates people according to race. The title "Glory and Hope" would be very appropriate because Mr. Mandela talks about how they fought for a democratic constitution, this is related to the hope they have. It tells about how he wants christians, hindus, jews, whites, indians, and africans to all come together for a better life. This shows the hope and glory he has for his country.

In the first sentence of her speech she even says that she was ther to confer glory and hope. Nelson Mandela said that "Our daily deeds as ordinary South Africans must produce an actual South African reality that will reinforce humanity's belief in justice, strengthen its confidence in the nobility of the human soul and sustain all our hopes for a glorious life for all." This is one of the sentences in the speech that make the title 'Glory and Hope' appropriate for his message. He talks about wanting hopes for all lives. His speech is mostly about glory and hope that is why it is appropriate. Another example when he says, "We are moved by a sense of joy and exhilaration when the grass turns green and the flowers bloom." In this quote he is saying that the hope is when he we are happy and joyful when the grass turns green and flowers bloom. It is nothing bad when nature grows. Another saying that makes his title clear is, "We succeeded to take our last steps to freedom in conditions of relative peace." In this saying we have glory when we have freedom in our lives and peace. Mandela's message is to give glory and hope. This is a good title for his speech.

Apartheid is a rigid policy of segregation of the nonwhite population in the Republic of South Africa.

This title "Glory and Hope,” Is appropriate for the speech given by Nelson Mendel. The glory of how hey was the first black man to be elected leader in south Africa and how with his nomination he would drive his people of color out of their previous slavery and how his people are now the minority of southern Africa. The hope is how the people of color now are finally equal after long time spent waiting. Now they can hope for a better future, hope for a better way of living and hope for better things to come.

Nelson Mandela’s speech “Glory and Hope” is an inspirational address focusing on a new beginning for South Africa after the end of apartheid. Apartheid is the segregation of black and white people, and was the basis of South African government for many years. Under apartheid, race affected all aspects of social life. Only white people were allowed to vote and social contact between races was strictly forbidden. Nelson Mandela changed this all by becoming the first democratically elected black president of South Africa. In his inaugural speech, Mandela said that there would be glory and hope to newborn liberty. His message to the people was that apartheid would soon end and they could all look forward to new lives where everyone is equal. This is mainly why his speech is dubbed “Glory and Hope.” Throughout his address he thanked the people for giving him the chance to change South Africa and make it a place of freedom from segregation and discrimination. He had high hopes for a future where blacks and whites alike can live a glorious life of equality and justice. Mandela’s speech celebrated South Africa’s transition to democracy and a peaceful way of life for all races

The Apartheid, in the Republic of South Africa, was a policy to segregate blacks. It was a very strongly enforced policy followed. It separated the nonwhite population from the whites.
This speech written by Nelson Mandela has been dubbed “Glory and Hope.” The glory can be exemplified at many points in Mandela’s speech. Such as when he speaks of how each of the people of South Africa feel so proud just when they touch the soil. A main example of Glory in Mandela’s speech is how he speaks of the freedom almost being succeeded. Mandela speaks of hope whenver he talks of wanting to end the discrimination. Their hope to become free is turning into something they will hold with pride. However, ending their continuing bondage of poverty, deprivation, suffering, gender and race discrimination was still a hope. Their hope is to build a society in South Africa in which whites and blacks can walk tall, amongst each other, together as free, equal people.

Apartheid is the separation of african americans and white peopel in one city. African americans did not have it easy at all. African Americans had to have passports on them at all times to even enter their own cities. It was also a policy where black south africans could only live in certain areas. Nelson Mandela's speech, "Glory and Hope" gave a message because he is hoping to build peace, prosperity, nonsexist, no racialism and a democracy. The title "Glory and Hope", was appropriate for this speech because it was about his hopes to make our nation, glorious. If we lived by Nelson Mandela's hopes we would have a great nation and human achievements would increase. A new world would begin by using these changes.

*Apartheid means to seperate based on race, white and african american.

*Nelson Mandela's speech was dubbed "Glory and Hope" for many reasons. When Nelson Mandela says "this needs unity of purpose. It needs in action. It requires us all to work together to bring an end to division, an end to suspicion and build a nation united in our diversity" and "to raise our country and its people from the morass of racism and apartheid will require determination and effort" it means that you must never give up and always believe, and you will achieve what you are trying to, and that's why Nelson Mandela's speech was dubbed "Glory and Hope."

In 1948, Apartheid laws were enacted in South Africa. Apartheid is a rigid policy of segregation of the nonwhite poulation. Basically, it was a way to discriminate against a person based on the color of their skin. After spending 27 years as a political prisoner, Nelson Mandela became the first black president of South Africa. In his speech, 'Glory and Hope', Mandela speaks to the world about the progress his country has made in eliminating racial segregation from his country. To demonstrate Hope, he says that "The spiritual and physical oneness we all share with this common homeland explains the depth of the pain we all carried in our hearts as we saw our country tear itself apart in terrible conflict..., and we saw it spurned, outlawed and isolated by the people of the world, precisely because it has become the universal base of the pernicious ideology and practice of racism and racial oppression". He is reminding the people of South Africa and the world who have lived through this terrible period of racial oppression that there was always hope that tomorrow would be better and to always have pride in your country. One of the statements that defines Glory in his speech is, " We have at last, achieved our political emancipation. We pledge ourselves to liberate all our people from the continuing bondage of poverty, deprivation, suffering, gender and other discrimination. Nelson is expressing to the world that they have been triumphant in eliminating racial discrimation.

In the speech "GLory and Hope" by Nelson Mandela, he mentions an apartheid. An apartheid is any system or practice that seperates people because of their race. The title of this speech is appropriate for Mandela's message because like he says, "Today, all of us do, by our presence here, and by our celebrations in other parts of our country and the world, confer glory and hope to newborn liberty." Every one present while he was giving his speech was there hoping for glory in their country. Nelson Mandela had a very powerful message that was simply, hope and glory.

Apartheid is a policy or a system of segregation or discrimination regarding race. This is referring to South Africa. Nelson Mandela, the first President of a “new” South Africa, wrote a speech for his inauguration titled, “Glory and Hope”. There are many examples in the speech that support the title. He confers glory and hope because of the new liberty. He refers to glory in his speech when he thanks all of the guests for showing their pride for their country. He also pays thanks to the security forces for all of their work and for contributing to bringing the nation to where it is. More glory indicated in the speech was when he dedicated the day to all heros and heroines who helped make all free. Another indication of glory is when he says that “out of an extraordinary human disaster that lasted too long must be born a society of which all humanity will be proud”. He was proud to state in his speech that the people of South Africa had overcome a time where there was so much hatred and conflict.
Signs of hope also resinate in his speech. He hopes for the world to stay united, nonracial and nonsexist. He says,”We must therefore act together as a united people,...”; meaning, we should all act as one because we are one. He also says that “there is no easy road to freedom.” He hopes that freedom lasts; you see this when he says,”Let freedom reign.” He is aware of the fact that freedom and liberty is a goal which people as a whole must continue to work hard to achieve and keep. This must be a common goal of all people, black and white.

Apartheid was the official name of the South American system of racial segregation. The term ‘Apartheid’ means any system or practice that separates people according to race. The title, “glory and Hope” is appropriate for this speech because Nelson Mandela believes in hope for a future of justice and a glorious life for everyone. In his speech, he states, “Our daily needs as ordinary South Africans must produce an actual South African reality that will reinforce humanity’s belief in justice, strengthen its confidence in the nobility of the human soul and sustain all our hopes for a glorious life for all.” Nelson Mandela also says, “We have triumphed in the effort to implant hope in the breasts of the millions of our people.” This means that he, like Martin Luther King, Jr., is trying to keep the people faithful in achieving equality.

"Apartheid" was segregation among the white people and the black people in South Africa. Although the majority of people in the area were black, they were still treated unfairly. In Nelson Mandela’s speech, he is telling people how they have finally succeeded in breaking free from this issue of racism, and that now, after their dreams have become reality, they have much more to look forward to in the future. His main message is to show people that they can now be hopeful for many glorious times to come. This is why “Glory and Hope” is an appropriate title for the speech. When Mandela states “Never, never, and never again shall it be that this beautiful land will again experience the oppression of one by another and suffer the indignity of being the skunk of the world,” he is showing a kind of security to assure people that the severe problems they faced would no longer get in the way of them having successful, peaceful lives.

“Glory and Hope” – Nelson Mandela
In the republic of South Africa, apartheid was the segregation of the nonwhite population by means of a rigid policy. It could also be anything that had to do with separating people into social classes, backgrounds, or races. In the speech “Glory and Hope”, Nelson Mandela is trying to speak out against apartheid and discrimination.
“Glory and Hope” is an appropriate name for Nelson Mandela’s speech. It is the main idea Mandela is trying to get across to his audience. In Mandela’s speech he is saying they have accomplished many right and achievements for South Africans, and some other Africans, but there is still much more to achieve. South Africans can only achieve their goals through hope. “We have at last, achieved our political emancipation. We pledge ourselves to liberate all our people from the continuing bondage of poverty, deprivation, suffering, gender and other discrimination (Nelson Mandela).” This part of the speech tells of the glorious achievements the African race has already accomplished and the glorious goals they hope to reach in the future. “Our daily deeds as ordinary South Africans must produce an actual South African Reality that will reinforce humanity’s belief in justice, strengthen its confidence in the nobility of the human soul and sustain all our hopes for a glorious life for all. A Sense of Renewal (Nelson Mandela).” This excerpt from Mandela’s speech signifies the hope the people must have to achieve their goals as South Africans or just part of the African race of people. In the opening and closing statements of Mandela's speech, he celebrates all that South Africans have accomplished. For the future Mandela suggests that South Africans must continue to work together to rid discrimination and gain justice and equality for all.

An apartheid is a system and way of life by the government of South Africa based on segregation and prejudice. This includes sexism, racialism, different views of government and religion, and social status. South Africa suffered and was torn apart by these policies for a long time, and there was a great amount of suffering and pain because of them.

Nelson Mandela's speech showed his goals for the country of South Africa, as well as his unwavering faith that these goals would be reached. He opened his speech by mentioning the celebration of the independence of South Africa, and how the ending of an "extraordinary human disaster" would bring a society that humanity would be proud of. He mentions the connections of all the citizens of the country and their emotions, and how South Africa had the strength to maintain that relationship through times of isolation. Mandela goes on to state the accomplishments of the South Africans, mentioning all they overcame, and implying his faith and pride in the renewal of the South African society. He spoke with pride and glory of all the country's accomplishments and success.
He speaks for the people of South Africa, giving thanks and appreciation to all the people who contributed to the end of the terrible way of life the people of South Africa endured. He also states that the people of South Africa trust that these people will contribute their continued support as they renew and restore their nation to an acceptable lifestyle. Mandela knew that specific goals such as nonsexism, nonracialism, prosperity, democracy and the building of peace and harmony were not easily going to be achieved, but he had hope that the South Africans would rise above the challenge.

Apartheid was a rigid racial segregation of the nonwhite population in South Africa.

“Glory and Hope” is an appropriate title for Nelson Mandela’s message because now, at last the people who were oppressed and segregated are happy and their lives have changed for the good because under old system, their way of life was difficult and oppressive. In this speech Nelson Mandela is being inaugurated and he is ending the Apartheid, and teaching the African Americans to hope, to be happy, to feel free. The title connects with the message because Mandela is showing his listeners that hope and perseverance can put a stop to the Apartheid, and that everyone will be treated the same, black or white, were all equal. His message also connects with glory and hope when he says, “Let each know that for each the body, the mind and the soul have been freed to fulfill themselves.” In that quote he is implying that they will receive and feel glorious because they can live without being discriminated or put down by people who believe they are more superior.

Apartheid was a system of legal racial segregation enforced in South Africa. The system separated residents and visitors into racial groups, and it stripped blacks of their legal citizenship. Apartheid took away blacks’ right to education, medical care and other public services. This system sparked many internal rebellions and uprisings. The government resorted to the use of physical torture. Nelson Mandela was an anti-Apartheid activist. He spent 27 years in prison for charges of sabotage committee while rebelling against Apartheid. However, Mandela became the first black president of South America, and he was widely praised for voicing his opinion on many controversial topics. In Mandela’s speech “Glory and Hope”, Mandela encourages the crowd, telling them that they will never again be faced with the hardship of Apartheid. The country will soon feel a sense of renewal. When Mandela says, “the time for the healing of the wounds has come. The moment to bridge the chasms that divide us has come. The time to build is upon us,” I, as a listener, can feel hope for this country that has faced such discrimination. I also feel Mandela’s bond to the issue, and I feel confident in Mandela, knowing his words are coming from the heart. When he states, “Their dreams have come reality. Freedom is their reward,” I know Mandela will do what he has promised for his people. The statement, “Never, never and never again shall it be that this beautiful land will again experience the oppression of one by another and suffer the indignity of being the skunk of the world,” ensures the people of Africa freedom evermore. These quotes from Mandela’s Inaugural Address ensure the people of Africa a nation of glory and hope with a bright future ahead, one without oppression and segregation.

Apartheid: (in the Republic of South Africa) a rigid policy of segregation of the nonwhite population.

“Today, all of us do, by our presence here, and by our celebrations in other parts of our country and the world, confer glory and hope to newborn liberty.”* The speech this excerpt has been named “Glory and Hope” by Nelson Mandela. He made this speech at this Inaugural Address on May 11, 1994. “That spiritual and physical oneness we all share with this common homeland explains the depth of the pain we all carried in our hearts as we saw our country tear itself apart in terrible conflict, and as we saw it spurned, outlawed and isolated by the peoples of the world, precisely because it has become the universal base of the pernicious ideology and practice of racism and racial oppression.”* This excerpt describes the glory African Americans feel, as they are able to now live free. Free from racism and hate, free to live a life of freedom on they’re own land. “We, the people of South Africa, feel fulfilled that humanity has taken us back into its bosom, that we, who were outlaws not so long ago, have today been given the rare privilege to be host to the nations of the world on our own soil.”* Nelson Mandela expresses the pride and the glory all African Americans feel, as they are being accepted into society. They are being accepted by people who once went to a different school with them and drank from a different water fountain because the differences in the color of their skin. Nelson Mandela also describes. “We trust that you will continue to stand by us as we tackle the challenges of building peace, prosperity, nonsexism, nonracialism and democracy.”* He is getting the point across that the days to come are days where people, of all races, will come together to build a new nation. He talks about the glory of a new nation, and the hope that all people will stand together in unity.

Nelson Mandela’s is one of the few public speakers with the ability to have the reader believe he is a reasonable and ethical person from his speech. The two words “glory and hope” together can mean to have admiration for a desire. “We have triumphed in the effort to implant hope in the breasts of the millions of our people. We enter into a covenant that we shall build the society in which all South Africans, both black and white, will be able to walk tall, without any fear in their hearts, assured of their inalienable right to human dignity -- a rainbow nation at peace with itself and the world.” To me, this quote explains how he has hoped to make South Africa a country full of peace with no apartheid. Apartheid is referred to the political policy in South Africa, where Nelson was living at the time. The political government segregated the black South African community and only allowed black South Africans to live in certain areas and not be able to do many things others could do. “Our daily deeds as ordinary South Africans must produce an actual South African reality that will reinforce humanity's belief in justice, strengthen its confidence in the nobility of the human soul and sustain all our hopes for a glorious life for all. A Sense of Renewal.” That quote is another example of how by having the South Africans lives with sustain “glory and hope” by strengthening the confidence in the nobility of the human soul and reinforce humanity’s belief in justice. I think that “Glory and Hope” were the ideal words for this speech. He uses the words “glory and hope” often in this speech, because he was explaining his admirations and his wants and desires for South Africa to become. Nelson Mandela really does talk about the change that can happen with having admiration and desire for the change, which they did in the speech.

Apartheid was a political system in South Africa for many years that separated the different peoples living there and gave privileges to those of European origin. Nelson Mandella’s inaugural speech is appropriately titled “Glory and Hope”. South Africans had to endure years of racial discrimination during white minority rule. After years of struggle apartheid ended. This transition was needed but not easy. Mandella hoped for a brighter future for South Africa and he knew they would need help from countries around the world. As he stated,” We trust that you will continue to stand by us as we tackle the challenges of building peace, prosperity, non-sexism, non-racialism, and democracy.” “We have triumphed in the effort to implant hope in the breast of the millions of our people. We enter into a covenant that we shall build a society that South Africans both black and white will be able to walk tall without any fear in their hearts, assured of their inalienable right to human dignity – a rainbow nation at peace with itself and the world.” Mandella wanted to celebrate the end of apartheid and acknowledge all those who helped achieve it. “We dedicate this day to all the heroes and heroines in this country and the rest of this world and sacrificed in many ways and surrendered their lives so that we can be free.” Mandella knew that this new road to democracy would not be easy but he wanted to inspire his people to meet the challenge, they had come so far they must continue this journey.

Apartheid, policy of racial segregation formerly followed in South Africa. The word apartheid means separateness in the African language and it described the rigid racial division between the governing white minority population and the nonwhite majority population. The apartheid laws classified people according to three major racial groups, white, Bantu, or black Africans and Colored, or people of mixed descent. The laws determined where members of each group could live, what jobs they could hold, and what type of education they could receive. Nelson Mandela spent 27 years as a political prisoner in South Africa before becoming the country's first black president. Mandela was a leading member of the African National Congress, ANC, which opposed South Africa's white minority government and its policy of racial separation, known as apartheid. The government outlawed the ANC in 1960. Mandela was captured and jailed in 1962, and in 1964 he was convicted of treason and sentenced to life in prison. Instead of disappearing from view, Mandela became a prison-bound martyr and worldwide symbol of resistance to racism. Laws prohibited most social contact between races, authorized segregated public facilities, and denied any representation of nonwhites in the national government. "Glory and Hope" was Nelson Mandela's 1994 inaugural speech as the first democratically elected State President of South Africa. South Africa was in a rough transition from a system of Apartheid with segregation of people based on race and class divisions to a system with renewed hope for equality to all of their citizens. Mandela was release form jail in 1990 by South African president F.W. Klerk. Mandela used his stature to help dismantle apartheid and form a new multi-racial democracy, and he and de Klerk shared the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993. Mandela was elected the country's president in 1994. He served until 1999, when he was succeeded by his deputy Thabo Mbeki. Mandela's autobiography, Long Walk to Freedom, was published in 1994.This title is appropriate for this speech because it talk about the hope of being segregated no more.

Apartheid is any practice that separates people bases on religion, race, caste, etc. “Glory and Hope” was an appropriate title for Nelson Mandela’s speech. First of all, Nelson Mandela basically talks about how he hopes to end segregation .There are several parts of the speech that makes it a good title. The part of the speech where Nelson says, “The time for the healing of the wounds has come. The moment to bridge the chasms that divide us has come. The time to build is upon us.”, is saying it’s time for a change, a time to end segregation, and a time to have peace among people. Another part of the speech that helps make the title appropriate is, “Their dreams have become reality. Freedom is their reward.” ,This means, if people strive to make their dreams come true, and to become somewhat of a hero, they will get the reward of freedom.
